Bio

Berj Fazlian is a drummer, producer, and bandleader from Beirut, Lebanon. Performing
comfortably in the spaces between hip-hop, jazz, and modern groove, Fazlian got his feet wet
early as a student of the Berklee College of Music and Berklee Abu Dhabi fellowship recipient.
Developing his own voice behind the drum set with an expansive arsenal; he meshes the sonic
explorations of producers such as Madlib and Kiefer with the sheer force of John Bonham and
the “feel” of J Dilla.

Berj began playing the drums at twelve years old. Much of his childhood was spent heavily
focused on finding and mastering his own identity, feel, and touch which continues to bleed
into his sound as a musician today. Musicality and emotion over technicality play a pivotal role
in his performance style. His playing often contrasts between moments of discipline and
restraint to those of chaos and release.

By the age of 18 Fazlian was performing on one of the biggest stages in the world as the
youngest member of the Expo 2020 Dubai official band “Exposonix.” Not too long after, he
went on to perform in front of over 20 million televised viewers at the internationally acclaimed
Baalbek International Festival in Lebanon at their “Sound of Resilience” concert.

Fast forward to today and Fazlian has proven to himself and others that he can hold his own on
stages all over the world. He is currently a touring musician working throughout North America
and Europe with Iranian pop vocalist Shadmehr Aghili.

The diversity in his music and strong sense of identity makes Fazlian a musician who is very
collaborative in both commercial and creative projects. He is the bandleader for Boston-based
ensemble Berj Fazlian Quartet. The band is known for their original music that compliments
Fazlian’s jazz background with a hip-hop approach to composition and a modern production
sound. The music he writes showcases his knack for melody by including emotive chord
progressions laid atop of groove heavy rhythm sections aiming to reach other musicians as
well as mass appeal.

When he’s not playing shows you can find him developing his online following through original
content and viral videos. Fazlian has gained tens of thousands of dedicated watchers and
listeners through his authenticity and ability to blend great musicianship with humor, relatability,
and most importantly his personal artistic voice.

He is currently endorsed by Meinl Cymbals as well as  Meinl Stick and Brush.

At the end of the day, Berj Fazlian is a musician who lets his emotions drive his sound. As he
grows as a person, he continues to search for that voice that feels the most him. That and
music makes him happy, and he wants to share that with whoever will listen.
